Performance management and compensation practices on employee motivation in Public hospitals in Mogadishu, Somalia
Abstract
This project report is prepared with the purpose to determine the Performance Management and Employee Motivation in Public hospitals in Mogadishu, Somalia. There were other objectives such as identifying the effects of the reward system, direct and indirect compensation on the performance and motivation of the employees working in Benadir hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia. In order to prepare for this report, data were collected through survey and discussion methods from public hospitals.
In the first chapter, the background, scope, objectives, methodology and limitations of this report have been included. Then, in the second chapter, past literature on employee compensation, incentives, rewards, direct and indirect compensation, etc is included. Additionally in this chapter, employee motivation and performance management literature are also included. In chapter three, the selected organization’s profile is provided. More elaborately, the organization’s mission, vision, values, structure and services were described briefly. Next, under chapter four, the organization’s Human Resource functions were included. In chapter five, the analysis and findings of the report is included. It was found by the survey analysis that there is significant positive relationship between compensation and organizational performance. Moreover, there is not only a clear positive relationship between reward system and employee motivation but also there is a strong positive relationship between these two variables. So, finally, it was concluded that more research should be done in these areas so that the problem that affects these areas can be detected and solved.
