Accounting Information System in RMG Sector
Abstract
This report presents an in-depth overview of my internship experience at Fakir Apparels Ltd. where I engaged in a comprehensive exploration of the Accounting Information System (AIS) within the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector. Conducted from July to September 2024, this internship provided hands-on exposure to the HR and Accounting departments, allowing me to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world context. The report begins by detailing the objectives and methodology of the study, followed by an overview of Fakir Apparels Ltd., one of Bangladesh's prominent RMG exporters. Special focus is given to the company’s dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), environmental management, and social compliance initiatives, which illustrate its commitment to sustainable and ethical practices. A swat analysis examines the company’s strengths, such as its large workforce and significant export capacity, while highlighting potential challenges, including industry competition and reliance on imported raw materials. The report further explores Fakir Apparels Ltd.'s Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies and development programs, which focus on succession planning, employee skill enhancement, and comprehensive training programs for all levels of staff. Additionally, significant events, such as the annual picnic and internal fashion shows, are highlighted as examples of the company’s vibrant organizational culture. ISO certifications are also discussed, showcasing Fakir Apparels Ltd.'s compliance with international standards in quality management, environmental sustainability, and occupational safety. The report concludes with an assessment of how this internship has reinforced my skills in accounting, HR practices, and industry-specific management strategies, equipping me with valuable competencies for my future career. This internship experience has been instrumental in bridging the gap between academic theories and industry practices, providing a well-rounded perspective on the operational intricacies of the RMG sector and the critical role of accounting information systems in supporting business objectives.
