Ineffective Recruitment & Selection Process Could Lead to an Inefficient Workforce – A Case Study on BEXIMCO Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (BPL)
Abstract
BPL was established by the BEXIMCO Group in 1976 with the goal to provide the best medicine at an affordable price in Bangladesh. Today, it is leading the pharmaceutical industry in this country. To achieve this goal, BPL has a strong team of professionals who constantly works to find and attract the best talents. The HR department follows appropriate procedures to assess the candidates, and select the ones who are the best fit for the company. They have adopted a well-structured recruitment and selection process.
This report discusses the recruitment and selection process followed by the company, and the problems related to it. Even though the HR team is very cautious, wrong hiring might occur due to certain circumstances, and it might lead to an inefficient workforce. It is harmful for the brand image of BPL which they have consistently held for years. Although it was a great opportunity to conduct this study, there were some limitations due to confidentiality issues in the organization. This study further analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the recruitment and selection process of BPL, recommending some ways to improve the process where necessary.
The study concludes with the fact that having a strong HR team is not the only criteria to hire the right candidates. A proper system and continuous evaluation of the recruitment and selection process are equally important to maintain the efficiency of the workforce.
