An Internship Report on Compliance and Industrial Law at Oasis Fashion Limited
Abstract
The internship report was done at the Head Office of Oasis Fashion Limited. The internship duration was for 3 months starting from 1st February till 1st May. The main objective of the report is to understand if compliance and industrial laws are carried on at Oasis Fashion. The biggest scope of the study was that the data's could be collected directly from the members of HR team along with production,quality control and marketing team. The main limitation of the research was that collecting all sort of data was not allowed in their HR policy. Also,the members were not helpful providing with the information frequently. The data has been analysed using both qualitative and quantitative method which are represented with the help of written format,pie charts and tables.
The development of compliance took place due to previous conflicts in order to make the life easy for workers. Before 1970s the literature of compliance was not formed. By time, companies are now willing to provide equal opportunities,safe working environment,limit discrimination in every organization now. Employments are considered as the basic component of labour law. With the changes,employees are no longer forced to work. Now, there are different trainings given to the employers and they can choose where to work. In earlier times,wages were not properly distributed to the workers. They were paid bare minimum where women used to be paid lesser. In the recent era,wages are set before hand with other facilities such as fringe benefits. Before 19th century,there were no safety in the workplace. Later,industries began to take preventable safety measures in the organizations to minimize hazards. Famous authors view were considered about their take in compliance and industrial law. The authors believe that compliance must be maintained,this also works as a business opportunity to achieve goodwill from the buyers. There are advantages of compliance and industrial law like it helps to ensure a safe working environment,build great public relations. There are also drawbacks like it is costly to maintain the rules and regulations.There is also an impact of compliance and industrial law in the garments sector of Bangladesh.These rules are not carefully executed in the industries here due to management negligence thousands of workers are suffering. It should be mandatory to take precautions for the welfare of the labours.
The company has more than 12 thousand workers working everyday.The major strength of Oasis is their competent human resource.The major weakness is the cultural gap.The industry is also committed towards the environment. They are committed to create a safe working environment. Oasis is highly cautious about the factors and specially the legal factor since they export worldwide.
In order to take a practical view,a survey has been conducted on 20 respondents from different departments at Oasis like HR department,marketing,quality control and production departments.The respondents were asked 20 questions and they had to answer using the 5 point scale.The respondents mostly indicated to neutral,strongly agree and agree. The illustration has been presented graphically as well. From the survey,a tentative idea could be gathered that Oasis fashion limited maintains the industrial laws and they are concerned about employee welfare.
As a recommendation,Oasis fashion should introduce new ideas and campaigns to be more recognized as a large RMG industry which they are.Fresh workers should receive more training which can reduce the gap between existing workers. To conclude,Oasis Fashion has been a fruitful journey where gasp amount of new knowledge could be gathered that will help in future endeavour.
