An Overview of Activities of the Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited.
Abstract
Dhaka stock exchange, being a prominent regulatory body, is continuously playing a prominent role in the formation of capital of the public limited companies of Bangladesh. It is the regulator and guardian capital market. The knowledge of stock exchange is vey essential to understand the operation of capital market in the country. Hence, the objectives of this report to ascertain the functions of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and evaluate its operational efficiency. DSE is the accelerator of economic development of Bangladesh. Through the growth of market capitalization, the DSE is providing major contributions to the nation, identifying the problem of the activities, and overcoming the problem. For data collection, both primary and secondary sources were used to prepare the report. This report is divided into Seven chapters. The first chapter of this study deals with introduction that present about DSE, primary purpose of DSE, outcome, a brief introduction of the organization, capital market, configuration of the capital market, functions of the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), capital market tools, micro and macroeconomic factors' effects on the return of the emerging stock market, with some other activities. The Second Chapter discusses organizational background and industry perspective, the organization scenario, divisions & department. In the third chapter, the objectives of the report were illustrated along with some secondary objectives. The fourth chapter presents methodology & data collection procedure. The fifth chapter includes lessons learned from internship from DSE. Some real-life experience has been stated here. And the sixth chapter depicts the findings of the study, problem of the research and information department. Finally, the seventh chapter exhibits conclusion and some recommendations for the operation of DSE.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd. (DSE) is an established and significant institution in Bangladesh's financial sector. It is becoming increasingly obvious that this is a very successful commercial endeavor for encouraging autonomy and an entrepreneurial spirit among managers and giving careful consideration to the needs of officers and staff. Bangladesh must rebuild its stock markets and make them capable of functioning as the major vehicle for establishing a coalition and supplying financing needed to support the industrial and other development initiatives of the country since the nation has accepted an open market economy as its national policy to achieve higher growth and rapid state ownership. The development made by the Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited is also emphasized in the report, as well as the need to gain practical expertise and identify any problems within the DSE's Membership Affairs Department. The paper will conclude with some suggested recommendations for the DSE to improve the capital market.
