The Roles of Training & Development in the Provision of Services in Commercial Banks: A Study on Standard Bank Limited
Abstract
The banking industry plays a very significant role in the economic development of a country. In the banking sector, there are plenty of operations which are maintained toward the achievement of the business objectives of the banks. The human resource management is one of the operations among them. It is a crucial department of the banking sector. It actually focuses on the employee management and other employee-related issues. It maintains all of the tasks and activities ranging from the employee recruitment to employee discharge. Every business organization has the human resource department as it is an operation of vital importance. This department is involved with the employee recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation, salary and benefits, rewards & promotion, employee discharge etc. The officers of the human resource department of the banking organizations are well efficient and effective. They are well trained to perform their tasks effectively. The officers of the human resource department of Standard Bank Limited (SBL) are also very much skilled and proficient and are able to operate their operations efficiently. This report basically focuses on the human resource management of the Standard Bank Limited. In chapter 1, the introduction part of the report is presented specifically. The background and the overview of the Standard Bank Limited is discussed in chapter 2. The chapter 3 represents the objectives and methodology of the report. The various functions of human resource department of the SBL are discussed elaborately along with the HRM model in the analysis part in chapter 4 of the report. Besides, the functions of general banking department of the SBL are also discussed in the analysis part in chapter 4. The digitalization has a great influence in the banking sector. Digitalization is really greatly helpful to the bank officers to perform the bank activities in the most efficient way. Such digitalization really helps all of the banking divisions and departments including the human resource department in the modern world. The HR officers of the Standard Bank Limited are able to maintain their operations automatically in a short time using the software and the associated technologies. The HR officers perform the necessary tasks regarding the employee management and report to the top management of the bank. There are some findings and recommendations given in the last chapter of the report intended to help the aforesaid bank. The Standard Bank Limited (SBL) is running the HR department efficiently with its experienced HR officers, who are equipped with good management practices and associated technologies.
