Due to the financial attraction, bright future of the industry, choosing this sector as employment by the young generation, increasing demand of Bangladeshi meat in overseas countries, and more importantly, Bangladesh government initiative have accelerated the growth of this industry. Analysis of this sector reveals that Government and research institutes are doing as much as they can to maintain standard in cattle and milk. Bangladesh Bank has circulated instructions for easy loan for those interested to this sector. Different breeds of bulls and milking cow are adding up. Artificial insemination is reaching out to rural areas. Meat exporting is increasing as local demands are being fulfilled. Some companies are doing well with a good quality and maintaining international standards. So, there is a hope one day meat exporting will be as good as our Readymade Garments sector of Bangladesh. In contrast to these positive sides, some drawbacks are making the growth speed slow of this industry. One of the challenges is meat import. Meat import is one of the worst drawbacks for our country and this industry. Analysis shows that low quality meat is coming in which is harmful for both our health and economy. Therefore, for the betterment of this industry, it is necessary to undertake various strategies and implement those within shortest possible time to overcome those challenges and convert them as opportunities.
