Abstract
As we know a crucial department in any organization is Human Resources Department who are able to create the backbone to which the organization is supported by, by this I mean they decide on the employees, handle them as well as make sure they do their jobs properly. The human resource must be regarded as an asset. Organizations HR follow practices that are recognized internationally as proper ways to manage human resources effectively and efficiently. The HR practices as we know are a set of values that help in the development of employees, the output they provide and bring a level of trust within the organization. During our BBA life, we read many books on this but now I have compared my theoretical knowledge in accordance to what practically goes on at Grameenphone. This report focuses completely on HR Activities of Grameenphone Ltd., which can be further studied upon and used by others for more knowledge on the subject matter.
Grameenphone is Bangladesh’s top mobile network operator because undoubtedly all their departments work hard to keep it in that position, especially the HRM is known as the “People & Organization” since they are the ones responsible to hire and keep the employees within the organization. Their job is to create effective strategies that will establish the best employees who are capable in achieving the organizational goals of Grameenphone, this is why they view their employees as human capital.
Human resource activities at Grameenphone begin with the planning phase keeping in mind the requirement for human resource, the type of people needed, the number of people needed and the quality of the people are all to be considered here. Planning has to do with things like the process of recruitment and selection, appraisal, how the salary, benefits, and rewards are to be structured, how health and safety measure is to be taken, etc. Human resource manager at Grameenphone are to set the job description, job specification and job analysis so that there is a format for how the salary will be based, benefits that will be given, what training and development is needed to be provided to employees, give employees a clear understanding of the requirement of their job and where their career is headed. They want to acquire talent with a variety of skill and those with experience. The most talented and hardworking people are to stay in the organization if human resource managers are to create a clear path for them to excel in the organization. It is important for them to recognize, appreciate, praise, and reward those that are performing well so they are encouraged and motivated to continue this way. With the continuous change in technology the human resource management constantly has to train and develop the employees on how to use the latest technology. The employees perform their best as their morale is raised with the appropriate compensation and benefits; Grameenphone is to give what they expect to be fair. The human resource manager at Grameenphone value the lives of employees so they take appropriate health and safety measure, provide a good working condition, have grievance procedures put in place, set the proper working hours and leave policy. Finally, their human resource managers are constantly creating a nice flow of information between employees keeping them actively participating in the decision making within the organization, this creates a sense of belongingness and desire to help the organization grow by performing better and by being more productive.
