dc.description.abstractNow a days, private commercial banking (PCB) industry plays a vital role in the economy of Bangladesh by posting a profitable number at the net profit. In the last 6-10 years PCBs successfully gained the trust of general people of the Bangladesh by providing wide range of financial services and product. “Digital Banking” is the USP for the private commercial banking (PCB) industry. Recent years PCB industry plays important to minimize funding gap & create investment options for the people of Bangladesh. Currently, 52 private commercial banks are operated in the industry of private commercial banking industry in Bangladesh. The primary objective of these private commercial banks (PCBs) is to provide satisfactory services & financial products to the customers. This sector works to increase financial inclusion in Bangladesh that’s why PCBs open their branches, ATM & CRM, agent banking at rural areas. As per the data of 2022, 53% adult population have their bank accounts. PCBs contribute a lot to gain the number. But still 47% adult population don’t have the bank account, so PCBs now working on minimizing the gap. They are focusing on the 100% financial inclusion for the adult population. In this mission mobile banking can be a game changer for the PCB industry. Due to the rise of the economic activities in Bangladesh seasonality of the PCB industry shifts its pace. Diversified financial products attracts various kind of customers that’s why seasonality in the industry creates its own color in every season. As there is a lot of segments in the industry, PCB industry is well organized in terms of competition. Some banks are focus on credit cards, some are into loans and some are into commercial loans. So, Banks are not grabbing the market share and profit share of other banks. This report also describes that the City bank limited(CBL) has a robust business model that focuses on delivering value to its customers while maintaining a sustainable and profitable business. The bank's strategy is to expand its customer base by providing excellent customer service, innovative products, and leveraging technology to enhance the customer experience. The bank has also invested in its digital capabilities, enabling customers to perform transactions online, through mobile devices, and self-service kiosks. Looking ahead, The City bank limited (CBL) is well-positioned to capitalize on the opportunities in Bangladesh's rapidly growing economy. The bank has identified key growth areas, including digital banking, SME lending, and trade finance, and is investing in building the necessary capabilities to support its growth ambitions. CBL's strong brand, customer-centric approach, and innovative product offerings provide a solid foundation for the bank's continued success in the future. This report also states the real-life experience of the real financial world. At real world people are more sensitive about their money. PCBs provide services to the people to utilize their money in the best possible ways. That’s why PCBs open various departments. I have worked on these departments to take the real experience as an intern. All departments gave me a message that “No mistakes are accepted in the financial world”. That’s why departments arrange various trainings & sessions to avoid the mistakes. As an intern I have been through the training sessions which helps me to understand the banking operations in real life. I believe reading this report will provide the full picture of private commercial banking industry of Bangladesh and the city bank limited.
