dc.description.abstractThis report consists of a brief analysis of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, who has operations in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and several other countries. The operations of Commercial Bank as a foreign bank in Bangladesh are described with its organizational structure, products and services and in comparison, with other foreign banks operation in Bangladesh. Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been serving since 1920 and completed its 100 years worldwide. It has made its mark in Bangladesh after acquisition of a French Financial Institution Credit Agricole Indosuez in 2003. Recently, Commercial Bank of Ceylon has achieved high credit ratings of AAA in Long Term and ST-1 in Short Term for 10 years in a row from CRISL Bangladesh. Awarded the Best Foreign Bank in Bangladesh by UK-based Global Business Outlook (GBO) magazine in 2020. This shows competency of the bank with increase in performance growth over the years and mitigating threats from the competing environment. The bank has very good client relationship and promises to do so for current and future clients. It has created a positive impact in the banking industry of Bangladesh by developing its client based and providing financial assistance to the required as per guidelines by the regulatory body. In this report, a comparative product and services analysis of Standard Chartered Bank, CBC and HSBC is given which shows the benefits, features and pricing strategies of the banks operating since their inception in Bangladesh. A CAMEL’s analysis is also conducted in order to show the bank’s performance over the years of service and operations in Bangladesh. This includes Capital Adequacy, Asset Management, Management Capacity, Equity and Liquidity performance. There have been several paces that has been maintained, from high to low, and indicates the exact places where there should be improvements made. The sole purpose of this report is internship completion and I have included my part of experience as being chosen as a capable one to understand to ins and outs of being an intern at this bank.
