Abstract
This report presents a comprehensive overview of my three-month internship experience at United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), Corporate Branch, within the Retail Business Division, specifically in the Card Section. The primary objective of the internship was to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical exposure in the banking sector, with a focus on retail banking operations and credit card services.
During the internship, I was engaged in a variety of analytical and operational tasks under the supervision of Mr. Syed Zubair Hossain, First Vice President of the Retail Business Division. A significant component of my internship was my involvement in a key project focused on the development of a women’s credit card. As part of this project, I prepared detailed documentation outlining the business model, target market, value proposition, and strategic positioning of the proposed “UCB Ayma Platinum Women Credit Card.” This project emphasized financial inclusion, market expansion, and customer segmentation, particularly targeting the underrepresented female segment in Bangladesh’s credit card market. I also compiled and analyzed Ramadan promotional offers using Microsoft Excel to identify market positioning and strategic differences among competing banks.
Overall, the internship provided valuable insights into real-world banking practices, enhanced my analytical and problem-solving abilities, and contributed significantly to my professional development.
