dc.description.abstractThis paper is an output of the study on performance of the terracotta business sector in Bangladesh: challenges, opportunities and policy options. The main objective of the study is to assess the viability of terracotta and terracotta sector of Bangladesh, and to suggest with a long-term strategy for development of this sector. There are a number of problems in this sector such as lack of knowledge about this sector among the common people. The main problem of terracotta business is competitive product, just like the products which made by plastic, aluminum. These products is poach the market popularity instead of clay product. The lack of financial stage of potteries is another problem for the terracotta business. That is the reason of less producing terracotta product. There has need to help in the pottery area to protect this terracotta business. There have a number of areas in Bangladesh, where potteries make clay products but at this present time their financial side is not good to increase their business. There has prospective sectors for terracotta but there has requirement to help for saving that prospective sectors. Government subsidies can help the potteries to increase terracotta business. Terracotta items can be exported to foreign country for developing economy section. This will be helpful for the potteries and for the country.en_US
