Abstract
This report is submitted as a partial requirement for the completion of a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting at United International University. It covers the internship experience of three months at Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, focusing on a comprehensive General Banking Activities of the bank. The internship was conducted at AIBL Notun Bazar Branch, where the primary objective was to apply theoretical knowledge in financial management and performance analysis to actual banking operations.
Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC is among the prominent Islamic Bank in Bangladesh which conducts banking activities according to the Islamic Shariah. The bank's aspiration is to offer modern services of banking along with ethical and Islamic values. Over the years, the bank has occupied a strong position and offered diversified banking products and services such as General Banking, Investment Banking, Foreign Exchange (Forex) Remittance and Digital Banking services.
I spent three months’ internship in the General Banking Department in Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, Notun Bazar Branch. General Banking Department, which directly interfaces with the customers and its daily banking operations, is one of the most crucial departments of a bank. This internship provided me hands on experience on various banking activities like account opening procedures, customer service activities, deposit activities, withdrawal activities, Cheque clearing, documentation, record management and other operational activities.
The report offers a brief introduction of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, its history, mission and vision, products and services, banking activities and role in the banking sector of Bangladesh. It also explains the characteristics of the banking sector, technological advances, competition and banking industry problems.
