Abstract
This internship report, titled “Operational Analysis of the Distribution Management System of Data Path Ltd.”, has been prepared as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Major in Finance, at United International University (UIU). This report is based on the practical experience gained when I perform my internship at Data Path Ltd. from July 14, 2025 to October 14, 2025, where I was an intern within the Distribution Team.
The main purpose of this report is to provide a description of the distribution of requests in U.S. 401(k) retirement plans and an evaluation of the efficiency of Data Path Ltd. in performing these duties. This report describes all aspects of the distribution management process, from applicant eligibility verification to document auditing and compliance with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, reaching out to stakeholders and plan administrators, and processing of various types of distribution requests such as hardship withdrawals, in-service withdrawals, termination distributions, rollover distributions, Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), and participant loans. Here I have also talked about my responsibilities and experiences as an intern on the Distribution team and the practical knowledge I acquired and the skills I developed during my internship.
Several financial analyses based on estimated data of operating performance of distribution processing have been included in the report in order to gain insight into the performance of distribution processing in terms of finances. The analysis includes revenue analysis, gross profit margin analysis, cost-to-revenue ratio analysis, revenue growth ratio analysis, gross profit growth ratio analysis, contribution margin analysis, break-even analysis, revenue per distribution analysis, revenue per client analysis and estimated cost structure per distribution analysis. The results of the analysis indicate that the volume of distribution and revenue has increased steadily from 2021 to 2025, which demonstrates the growth and performance of the business.
During my internship, I had an opportunity to apply the knowledge which I gained during my studies at the university. Here are some of the skills that I acquired from the internship that benefited me: analytical thinking, communication skills, problem solving, time management, attention to detail, and an understanding of retirement plan administration.
Overall, this internship was a great learning experience which helped me gain knowledge of both academic and real-life experience and made me ready for a future career in finance and retirement plan administration.
