    Abstract
Renewable Energy is a significant objective of developing countries like Bangladesh. It is a reliable and efficient source of electric power. The government of Bangladesh has emphasized on its growth as the country shows promising potential in the market of renewable energy. Moreover, as one of the countries that is most prone to climate change effects, renewable energy establishes a clean and sustainable model for development, as opposed to the very expensive import of petroleum that the country is currently dependent on. The economy of Bangladesh has, hence, started to show a gradual shift towards renewable energy for its source of fuels such as biomass, solar, wind, etc. It has been reported that approximately 76% of Bangladesh’s population are out of on-grid connected electrical supply. The country have been using its finite supply of natural gas to keep up with the exponentially increasing demand for fuels. According to projections, the country will run out of its natural gas supply by the year 2028 and this has led to several government and non-government bodies to focus on the country’s prospects in renewable energy. This paper will focus on the future trends and prospects that have resulted from this scenario and how it is likely to affect the long term development goals of the country’s economy. For this paper, data was collected using a systematic random basis via questionnaire. The results have shown potential for profitable business activity in the renewable energy sector which would help secure the country’s future for energy. This will, in turn, provide ample comfort to society as an abundant source of energy promises a convenient lifestyle. This paper also recommends spreading motivational awareness about the use of renewable energy to prepare the population for this shift. If implemented successfully, Bangladesh is likely to achieve its sustainable development goals.
