CASH MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CASH MANAGEMENT AND PROFITABILITY-A CASE STUDY OF BANK ALFALAH
Abstract
The internship program fills the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. As part of my BBA course, I have to go through this program and surely this internship has given me an inner site of practical banking experience. This case study report is the output of my 12 weeks internship in Bank Alfalah which is based on the knowledge, experience and observation gathered at Bank Alfalah, General Banking Department, Gulshan Branch, and Dhaka.
The data used here are collected from both primary and secondary sources. Primary sources include practical job work conversation with colleagues, annual reports of the bank, and internal memos, correspondences, quality training. Secondary information is collected usually from annual reports of other banks, different financial institution web site information and magazines.
At first, I introduced the entity of Bank Alfalah with its operation and the way it integrates into the current position in the banking business. Than elaborated on the bank's historical background, general banking products in Bangladesh, structure and operational flow, the mission and vision towards the achievement of efficiency and wealth maximization, general policy to achieve its future purpose and aim. Then I tried to depict a deeper part of the basic financial operation of the bank with the analysis of identified financial statements of the previous year. As I have worked mainly in the General Banking and Cash Management Department during my internship period, I have tried to focus on the “ Cash Management Techniques and the Relationship between Cash Management and Profitability– a case study for Bank Alfalah”.
This report is focused mainly on the CMO strategies and their specific units of operation and I intended to connect the activates of this unit in implementing the CMO objectives. In this way, this report demonstrates the interactivity and correlation of profitability and cash management. After reviewing this connection, I went on to the empirical outcome and finalized this report with my suggestion regarding the improvement of the cash management activities which can provide efficiency and effectiveness towards achieving profitability.
