The brick industry is a vital sector of the Bangladeshi economy, but it also has a significant environmental impact, particularly in terms of carbon emissions. This study examines carbon accounting practices in the Bangladeshi brick industry, with the aim of providing insights into the environmental challenges and opportunities associated with the sector. The study concludes that the Bangladeshi brick industry lacks awareness of and adoption of carbon accounting practices. This is caused by a variety of things, including a lack of expertise, financial constraints, and the need for technical capacity training. Due to the significant number of unregulated, small-scale brick kilns in Bangladesh, the study also finds a number of difficulties in data collecting. Despite these challenges, the study finds that there are a number of potential opportunities for reducing carbon emissions in the Bangladeshi brick industry. These opportunities include upgrading kiln technologies, switching to cleaner fuels, and improving operational efficiency. The study also recommends that the government play a role in promoting sustainable practices in the brick sector through policies and programs. The study concludes by highlighting a number of future research directions, including improving carbon accounting methods suited to brick kilns, evaluating the economic and social effects of emissions reduction plans, and exploring creative financing options for initiatives that promote environmental sustainability. Overall, the study provides a valuable overview of the current state of carbon accounting in the Bangladeshi brick industry and identifies a number of potential opportunities for reducing carbon emissions.en_US
