    Abstract
Blood donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make towards the society. The World Blood Donor Day is observed on 14th June every year. An ailing body needs blood for various reasons. It may be due to being diagnosed with anemia, loss of blood during an operation or even an accident. However, the requirement for blood may not always be satisfied and can lead to dire consequences such as complications or in extreme cases even death. The recipient in question requires blood group of a specific type. This is the most major factor in blood donation. Storage of blood is a tedious and strenuous process. It requires proper inventory management and equipment. In recent times a steady increase has been noticed in the number of blood donors thanks to the various organizations setting up blood donation camps on various occasions. At present, the blood banks are not receiving a sufficient inflow of blood. This is where such camps and initiatives come into play by helping and increasing the inflow of blood. At the same time, it is imperative to ensure that the donor is disease free and the blood being donated is checked to ensure normality. A very nice and efficient way to ensure proper functioning of a blood bank would be to link it to the internet via a mobile application which in turn is connected to a database which is managed by the blood bank. The application can be geo tagged to show the location of donor and recipients to ensure speedy service as per the requirements. Blood donation doesn’t cause any short comings in the functioning of our body as perceived by some sects of our society. In fact, the body can refill the loss within a few days.
