    Abstract
    Dhaka Bank Limited (DBL) is one of the leading private commercial banks in Bangladesh which started its operation on July 5, 1995. Headquartered in Gulshan-1, Dhaka DBL is operating with its 109 branches, 3 SME branches and 21 sub-branches with the motto “Excellence in Banking”. As of December’2020 its balance sheet size is Tk.29, 685 crore. This internship report is mainly focused on the general banking activities of Dhaka Bank Ltd. In the first chapter of this report the introductory part has been included. In the second chapter an overview of the bank has been given. The bank conducts all types of banking activities including corporate banking, retail banking, Islamic banking, foreign exchange, MSME & agro and digital banking etc. In the third chapter the general banking activities of DBL has been thoroughly discussed. General Banking is the department of a bank that provides regular services to the customers. I have discussed different types of deposits like Savings Account, Current Account, Fixed Deposit, Deposit Pension Scheme (DPS), Pension Savings Scheme (PSS) their operation procedures. The activities of credit section, cash section, foreign trade section, clearing section and remittance section including RTGS, EFTN, and Foreign Remittance have been discussed. Moreover, a comparison with other banks i.e. Bank Asia, Mercantile Bank and Mutual Trust Bank has been made. DBL is competitively in an advantageous position compared to these banks in general banking and is improving day bay day. In the next chapter I have discussed my jobs during the internship period. I performed the tasks related to account opening, cheque requisition, cheque delivery, cheque issue, card issue, customer account statement, SME banking service, customer data entry or edit and contacting with the customers. I have also done some LC related paper works to help my superior. In the concluding chapter some findings, recommendations and conclusion have been included. Though DBL has some shortcomings, the bank is performing greatly to achieve its goal through its competitive offerings and customer satisfaction.
