Voluntary Disclosure Information in the Annual Report of Five Pharmaceutical Companies

Abstract

This report is about voluntary disclosure of five pharmaceutical companies in their annual report. It includes the details discussion of six voluntary disclosure items of annual report. For this report five pharmaceuticals companies were chosen and those are, Square Pharmaceuticals, Beximco Pharma, Orion Pharma, Renata Limited, Delta Pharmaceuticals Limited. Among these companies Square holds the 1st position among all the pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh. Beximco holds the 3nd position Renata holds the 5th position, Orion 13th and Delta 34th position in the rank of top 50 pharmaceuticals companies. To get a better idea of the extent of the voluntary disclosure items reported in the annual report 3 (Square, Beximco, Renata) top ranked, 1 (Orion Pharma) medium ranked and 1 (Delta Pharma ) low ranked company were chosen. This would provide the overall picture of how much information voluntarily disclosed in annual report of pharmaceutical companies. For this reason, data has been collected from the annual report of these companies. The financial year 2013-2014 were selected for all companies for this project. In this particular year, how much information is voluntarily shown along with the mandatory information by these companies were analyzed. Finally, the details findings of the voluntary disclosure items in annual report regarding this five pharmaceutical companies are outlined throughout the report at the later part.
